How topics are chosen

Every day we look at public signals of interest in the UK and the US, including Google's trending searches and long-run Wikipedia reading figures. A topic only gets a guide if interest has been rising week after week for months, rather than spiking for a day because it was in the news.

How guides are written

Each guide is researched from sources that are named at the bottom of the page, with official bodies and primary sources preferred. We do not invent figures, prices or reviews, and we include downsides and uncertainties. Guides are written with AI assistance and checked against their sources before publishing.
